You're the One I seek in the morning when I rise I wait upon Your steady hand The highest heavens cry out, glory be to You the Holy One You deserve all praise The earth may shake beneath my feet And mountains fall into the heart of the sea When I'm feeling overwhelmed by fear I will rise for You are with me Great Defender is Your name And I will ever praise You Lord Who is like You God We long to worship your great name You are Almighty, Giver and Maker, You are Lord No one is like You God Let every voice sing out Your name God Everlasting, Healer of souls, we worship You Who is like You You are with the broken-hearted and You wipe away all tears You have suffered at the hands of men We see you high and lifted up Every knee will bow before the King who reigns The Great I Am There's no one like You God You are the only one for me
2.
When the storm starts rolling in And peace eludes my heart within All around me there's confusion and fear Still You are here You keep me in perfect peace You are always merciful to me You hold me close and I'm secure Though I may not always understand I know You are faithful to the end I'll trust in You for You are good I have seen You shut the mouths of lions I have felt You with me in the fire You are steadfast and Your love casts away my fear I know You're near You are working in my waiting Heal me even when I'm breaking You are my joy and Your Spirit is in me You lift me from dust and ashes Clothe me Your robes of gladness You are my joy and Your Spirit is in me Weeping only lasts a moment All my strongholds You have broken You are my joy and Your Spirit is in me You turn my sorrow into dancing Forever all Your praises I'll sing You are my joy and Your Spirit is in me

He cares for the sparrow building her home He cares for the flowers to bloom and to grow He cares for you and He cares for me He numbers the hair that grow on your head And beckons the weary to enter His rest He cares for you and He cares for me So why do I worry God You're here You'll never leave me Lord You're near And Your promises are true We cast our cares on You God We know You care for us Your yoke is easy and Your burden is light We will not walk in fear We have been given Your Spirit Of power, and love, and a sound mind He knows when we lie down and when we rise He goes before us and hems us behind He cares for you and He cares for me His presence is with us and He is our guide He holds us fast in the darkest of nights He cares for you and He cares for me Come trouble or danger Sickness or worry I will not be overwhelmed Through mountains or valleys Hardship or suffering Let my worship now resound
4.
Come all who weep Come all who hurt Come to the table and feast Come all who faint Come all who thirst Come to the table and drink Broken for all our transgressions He bled upon the cross Risen again He is seated on high And He welcomes us Come to the table All you who are weary Let Jesus give you rest Our God is able To shoulder our worries He’s conquered it all, even death Receive his rest Come and be fed Come to the Rock Come to the river Come to be free and washed clean Come and give thanks Come and bow down Come and worship the King In the midst of my enemies You prepare a meal for me You anoint my head and fill my cup Your body was crushed for us You poured out Your blood for us We take heart, for Lord You’ve overcome He is the Lamb He is our portion He is the bread and the wine He is Messiah He is the Lord He is Jesus, Love Divine

Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus, Just to take Him at His Word Just to rest upon His promise And to know, “Thus saith the Lord" Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus Oh, for grace to trust Him more Oh, how sweet to trust in Jesus, Just to trust His cleansing blood And in simple faith to plunge me ’Neath the healing, cleansing flood Yes, ’tis sweet to trust in Jesus Just from sin and self to cease Just from Jesus simply taking Life and rest, and joy and peace I’m so glad I learned to trust Thee Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend And I know that Thou art with me Wilt be with me to the end

about

When the news hit in early March that all across the country, college campuses were shuttering its doors to prevent the spread of COVID-19, a wave of emotions threatened to overwhelm me. As a minister to college students through InterVarsity, I felt a mixture of fear, anxiety, and uncertainty as I echoed what seemed to be a growing, collective question: “now what do I/we do?” Remembering Isaiah 26:3, “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in You,” a prayer began to take shape in my heart. This prayer quickly turned into a melody, and then into a song. I sent the rough lyrics to my friend and worship co-leader Andrew, who replied with a second verse and bridge lyrics. Over the next 48 hours, new songs about the peace of God and His care and invitational love for us began to pour out as the coronavirus pandemic rapidly changed the world. We managed to record these songs with our friend Steve in my living room before “social distancing” became the new normal. And now, we hope these songs of peace and trust and rest will encourage you and remind you of the God who cares.
